Within the first week of January 2021, South Africa has experienced its first taste of Eskom`s regular power cuts. This was due to the Koeberg Nuclear station that was taken off-line earlier than expected. Following this, another round of power cuts in the next week due to the failure of the main coal feed at the Kriel and Duvha stations due to unforeseen breakdowns. With the winter that quickly approached, Loadshedding will most likely be implemented with the rise in power usage due to the increased use of heating.
